Hello everyone! Welcome to the first installment of my blog posts on this site. I hope for this to be a place where I can post about what I'm learning and discovering through my work. This will include technical knowledge, business stuff, and community discoveries that I stumble upon throughout my time with my art. I want to create a low pressure space to share my work with anyone who will listen!
This Semptember I got knee deep into my last semester at Clemson and got to do some really fun stuff in the ceramic studio.
First of all I made a new set of plaster molds. I'm working on building a library of textures and patterns to create iterations of mugs and vases from. However while I was waiting on those to dry, I began working on a proof of concept round with commercial slipcast molds. I combined several styles of molds to try and make these hybrid form vessels that I think have a lot of character and are really fun to make stories out of.

In other mediums, I worked on this still life painting for my intermediate painting class. had lots of fun with it and was excited to imbue my own concepts into what is traditionally a very rigidly structured class.

I also dropped a new product on my site! I had stickers avaliable from a third party seller before. This means that I didn't keep any of my own stock and the stickers were made to order. While the upfront cost is cheaper, it didnt allow me to package the products myself, so I got my own batch manufactured, and am able to offer them for cheaper. win win.

I'm also taking a kiln building class this semester! We learn a lot of technical information about how kilns function, what materials work best in specific applications, and the history of kiln building. We made some proof of concept catenary arch forms, yes your girl got access to power tools, and had lots of fun.
Our ain assignment this semester is to build a test kiln that will be used by the studio for semesters to come, and I'm very excited to have a chance to leave my mark on the studio I have come to love so much.
Alright thats the end of my little recap of September. (Just ignore the fact that this is coming out late october.) The October recap will be out soon, but in the meantime, I would love to finish all of these out with a little poll to see what you guys want more of! So for Septembe I'd like to get to know who my readers are, so would you like to see more business stuff, art stuff, or technical/process stuff?
What do you care to see?
Business behind the scenes
Art/Conceptual stuff
Technical knowledge and behind the scenes of your process
You can vote for more than one answer.
